It was a sure page turner as I experienced the life of Jasmine through her eyes as she sought after her true love.Bay area natives and Cal alum, you are in for a treat down memory lane as you read each page and for those of you who have never been to the bay... this debut novel by up an coming author H.L. I love this book! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put the book down and I finished it in less than 2 days. I'm looking forward to reading more books from this author!
This was a great book! It took me back down memory lane and how we always seem to want what we can't have. The characters were easy to relate to and the situations they went through are real. I look forward to many other books by this author. Particularly, the sequel to this books!
What a wholesome, refreshing change from most modern day, young adult stories usually centered around violence, dismal deprivation, and recreational sex without consequences. I loved the fact that Jasmine grew wiser and that Jackson showed that brothers can be sensitive, thoughtful, and patient. A really fun read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it kept me in suspense!! I was anxious to find out what was going to happen next! I also liked the fact that the locations were local places that I am familiar with and could visualize in my mind. It's a great coming of age story that a lot of people can relate to regardless of your race. I look forward to perhaps a sequel or any future books by this author. Excellent job!!
The contemplations of the main character, Jasmine, are thoughtfully and realistically portrayed in this novella set against the backdrop of collegiate life. I enjoyed the intellectual yet relevant depiction of this young lady on her journey in self-discovery and love. More importantly, I found myself grateful to the author for illustrating a different kind of African-American young woman whose experience, desires and hopes are much like my own. This is not your typical "Waiting to Exhale" script, this carefully baked confection is in a league all it's own.
